HELP Dance Club

4^th July, 2009 was not only celebrated for American Independence day but by a group of above 400 people on the success of “JOM! Baile Latino”, an inter-college event organized by The Dance Club of HELP University College at the Kuala Lumpur Performing Arts Center ( KLPac ). The event was organized by a 26 young in-experience college students started 3 months ago in planning, recruiting for competitors, sponsors to tickets sales to make this 1^st Inter-College Latin dance competition in Malaysia a success and memorable.

Successful story of this event saw 20 enthusiastic couples from each Beginner and Advance category from HELP, KDU, Taylors, INTI, UCSI, Lim Kok Wing and The One Academy University-Colleges participated in the competition. 200 ticket seats were sold out before the event with 50 seats reserved for our VIPS/Sponsors. Just before the event started, the room were so packed and overwhelmed by last minute walk-ins who insisted to sit on the floor or stand just to watch and support their friends not forgetting door gifts for everyone.

The panel of judges comprised celebrities and our honor to have Judimar Hernandez (Judge for SYTYCD season 1 & 2), Alam (Champion for SYTYCD season 1), Tengku Noor (Top 6 for SYTYCD season 1) and guest judge, Volker Mann (Germany) who represent all judges con participant commentary. Present were also our Guests of Honor, The CEO of HELP University College, Datin Chan with spouse, President, Datuk Dr Paul Chan, president of HUC, Dr Kong with spouse and our many generous sponsors.

The event officiates by an opening speech from Datuk Dr. Paul Chan, Co-Founder of HUC followed by short message from Mr. William Lor (dance instructor for HELP dance club). We kick start the competition by a performance from Malaysia top under-9 juvenile couple, Dominc and Nisha Lor (Age 9 and 8), mesmerizing the crowd with the amazing cheeky cha cha.

Champion - Aevent Koh & Chua Jeh Ying (HELP), 1^st Runner Up - Yeoh Jie Cong & Lee Shu Er (HELP) and 2^nd Runner Up - Ong Chun Yew & Gan Huan Ting (UCSI)

Datuk Dr Paul Chan made a closing speech on event, geared at youth to inculcate a healthy lifestyle, socially and physically promoting HELP University College to be the leading colleges and to set leading roles for other University Colleges. Competition with a special performance by the 2006 till 2009 undefeated Malaysian Latin Dancing Champions, Royce Eng and Jovita Bautista with strong dance of the matador, Paso Doble!
